What you need to know! Steps to take inorder to treat and prevent catarrh.

Catarrh when experienced can bring discomfort and even be a nuisance. No one would say that he/she hasn't experienced it since the time he/ she was given birth to. Catarrh is said to be formed when there is a build-up of mucus in an airway or cavity of the body.

It mostly affects the back of the nose, the throat or the sinuses which is the air-filled cavities in the bones of the face. The symptoms of catarrh are, feeling that your throat is blocked or stuffy nose that you can't clear runny nose, feeling of mucus running down the back of your throat, persistent cough, to some people headache or facial pain, reduced sense of smell and taste, crackling sensation in your ear and some temporary hearing loss.
The above mentioned symptoms are very annoying to live with and can make a carrier miserable throughout the period it is experienced.
There are so many ways in which this ailment can be treated which includes traditionally like eating of garlic and through medication.
The steps are:
1: Avoid things that trigger your symptoms, such as allergens or smoky places.
2: Taking sips of cold water when you feel the need to clear your throat –constantly clearing your throat may make things worse.
3: Using a saline nasal rinse several times a day, these can be bought from a pharmacy or made at home with half a teaspoon of salt in a pint of boiled water that's been left to cool
4: Avoid warm, dry atmospheres, such as places with air conditioning and car heating systems, placing plants or bowls of water in a room may help to keep the air humid
staying well hydrated.
5: Avoid direct contact with dust particles expecially during this dry season, as too much intake of dust can result to catarrh.
