Health tip: Why It is not advisable to text or talk while jogging.

This type of exercise is mostly done in the morning, it is sometimes referred to as morning walk but it is widely known as jogging. Jogging is a running exercise that requires slow pace and undivided attention. The exercise becomes enjoyable when music is played with earpiece, headphones or any music playing device.

According to a survey, the music playing Devices such as phones that suppose to keep us company while jogging is now a source of distraction and danger to us. Making phone calls and texting while jogging tends to reduce the intensity of the exercise and also affects our balance.

Michael Rebold who is the Assistant Professor at Hiram College in the US and also the person who carried out the survey found out that texting, talking and phone call making can have a negative effect on one's balance during everyday activities. This is the first known study to examine the effects of cell phone use on postural stability.

Michael Rebold Said "If you are talking or texting on your cell phone while you are putting in your daily steps, your attention is divided by the two tasks and that can disrupt your postural stability, and therefore, possibly predispose individuals to other greater inherent risks such as falls and musculoskeletal injuries."

The analysis of the survey that involved 45 college students shows that listening to music while jogging has no notable negative impact on postural stability but phone texting affects postural stability by 45 percent while phone call making while jogging reduces postural stability by 19 per cent.
